We have been active homesteaders for years. Laurel was raised on an exotic animal ranch and show dog kennel, and has experience with raising domestic companion animals, livestock, ratites, exotic cats, camelids, fowl, and rabbits. She spent several years showing Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in AKC confirmation, and worked as a professional dog groomer and salon manager during that time as well. Tim is a native Tennessean who was raised a country boy in an extended family of farmers. For over 30 years he was a licensed contractor, building numerous homes in and around the Rutherford County area. Now he spends his days dabbling in constructing animal facilities and accessories, and is an absolute wizard at problem-solving (an invaluable skill when it comes to animal husbandry). He referrers to himself as the "Willoughby Roadie" and can usually be found either in the barns, or in his shop creating some solution to a newly discovered challenge in keeping our livestock as happy and content as possible. We are avid gardeners and canners, and practice organic, chemical-free, sustainable stewardship as much as is possible in a suburban setting at this time. Laurel has raised New Zealand, Florida White, and Silver Fox rabbits over the years. Pictured above is our current rabbitry, affectionately known as "The Burrow".

Our goals with our rabbits are first and foremost to humanely raise quality meat for our family. Beyond that, we strive to adhere to the ARBA breed standards for Silver Fox, while constantly working to improve our herd. Primary areas of focus are size, meat to bone ratio, and growth rates. Of equal importance is our commitment to continually improve genetic vigor and environmental resilience, while never losing sight of the importance of ease of breeding, maternal instincts, and easy-going, friendly temperaments. As we enjoy genetics, we also play with all available colors within the purebred Silver Fox gene pool. (Black, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Tort, Broken)

The best way to stay abreast of our current doin's around Willoughby is to give our farm Facebook page a follow! (Linked below.) We post regularly on availability, celebrations, miss-haps, random thoughts, and general goings-on!
